Some dSLR advantages over digital point-and-shoot cameras are the bigger sensors which lead to better image quality.
Digital SLR cameras (dSLRs for short) have bigger sensors than their non-dSLR, point and shoot counterparts.
Why is this important?
The sensor is what captures the images and creates a digital impression of what you see.
The bigger the sensor, the more of your image you collect. Photographs are chunks of light captured by a sensor and the larger the sensor, the more light (and thus information) is captured.
In low light situations, this means that you have a larger area to collect light.
A dSLR provides better image quality at lower light and will not cause as much noise as a small digital point and shoot camera.
Regardless of whether you shoot in low-light or night situations, a digital SLR camera advantage is the bigger sensor.
Love your camera. Love yourself. Love your photos.
