Digital Camera ISO

by admin on December 13, 2009

The digital camera ISO setting is important to control the amount of noise in your photographs.

The goal with digital photography is to reduce the amount of noise in photos.

The lower the ISO, the lower the noise.

If you camera supports it, ISO 100 is probably the best.

Most digital SLR cameras default to ISO 200 but you can change it.

Noise in a digital image reduces sharpness and clarity. Unless a noisy photo is what you are looking for, it is best to use the lowest ISO possible.

In some situations, such as if there is low light, this may not be possible.

Please read the Photography Basics page for a bit more information about ISO settings on your digital camera.

By increasing the ISO, it is possible to lower the shutter speed and still get a reasonable shot while hand holding your camera.

Love your camera. Love yourself. Love your photos.
